Star Trek Cast

The U.S.S. Enterprise discovers the abandoned wreckage of the spaceship S.S. Beagle in orbit around the planet 892-IV. In search of the ship's crew, Captain Kirk, Lieutenant Commander Spock and Doctor McCoy beam down to the surface of the planet, where they encounter a group of people calling themselves 'sun worshipers', who are trying to evade capture by the authorities; however, their attempts are in vain, and they are quickly captured along with the three Starfleet officers. Their captors take them to a nearby city, an impressive-looking metropolis that looks amazingly similar to ancient Rome. Here Kirk is shocked to learn that Captain Merik, the commander of the Beagle, has contravened the Prime Directive, and has set himself up as First Citizen of the Empire and close friend to the Proconsul, Claudius Marcus. Merik betrayed his entire crew in his quest for power, transporting them to the planet and then forcing them to take part in brutal gladiatorial games for the entertainment of the planet's inhabitants. Merik demands that Kirk beam the Enterprise crew to the planet so that they too can die in the arena, but Kirk refuses. Furious, Merik condemns Spock and McCoy to a fight to the death in the gladiatorial arena...
